Enhance Your Smile With Composite Veneers in Melbourne

composite veneers
Composite bonding is a restorative procedure where dentists use resin composites to reshape, contour the tooth into it’s desirable form, shape and colour. It is commonly associated with fixing a broken or chipped front tooth.

This treatment can also be called composite veneers if dentists are using this technique as an alternative to porcelain veneers. The ability for the dentist to produce aesthetically demanding results with dental bonding is critically determined by the quality of the bonding material used and the craftsmanship of the dentist placing the material.

Composite Veneers vs Porcelain Veneers

Composite Veneers

  • Durability: 5-7 years
  • Strength: More susceptible to chip
  • Colour consistency: Susceptible to staining
  • Aesthetics: Good to excellent depending on the clinician & case difficulty
  • Treatment visits: Usually 1 visit same day procedure
  • Cost: Affordable with short to moderate term options
Vs

Porcelain Veneers

  • Durability: 10+ years
  • Strength: Less susceptible to chip
  • Colour consistency: Does not stain
  • Aesthetics: Excellent as they are custom made by a master ceramist to replicate natural teeth
  • Treatment visits: 2-3 visits over 3-5 weeks
  • Cost: Long term investment

Your Composite Veneers Journey

There are a few different techniques to do composite bonding depending on the complexity and the technical requirements of the job, and what we think can achieve the best composite veneer outcome.

Sometimes we fabricate a stent to guide our dentist with the procedure and build up your new smile freehand with much more accuracy, other times we heat up the composite and use an injection technique so the shape is as precise as possible. Nevertheless, here’s what you can expect when you decide to explore your composite bonding options with us.

1

Initial Consultation & Smile Design

Your first visit with us is to meet our cosmetic dentist, and make sure that composite veneers is the right choice for you.  There are times where composite veneers may not be suitable to you as a long term solution, and a porcelain veneer is preferred.

Our dentist will go through all the options to make sure you choose the best solution for your new smile. Composite bonding can often be done freehand if the case is simple. If we need to make significant improvements in your smile, or if your aesthetic demand is high, we may need to take a 3D scan and create a Digital Smile Design prior to the procedure to ensure the outcome is as perfect as possible before you commit.

Composite Bonding

During this visit our cosmetic dentist will perform the composite bonding on the day. You will walk away with the beautiful smile you’ve always wanted. The benefit of composite bonding is we can alter the shape of the result in the chair until you are happy. Depending on the number of bonding we are doing and the technique used, this visit could be anywhere between half an hour to a few hours long. You will be pampered with Netflix and Spotify to ensure your visit is as comfortable as possible.

Review

After the laboratory has created your aligners, your Invisalign dentist will ask you to come back to the clinic for your first aligners. This visit is typically 60-90 minutes in duration. It is also the longest appointment in your Invisalign journey.

You will return once every 2-3 months on average for a review appointment until your teeth are perfectly aligned. We also use Dental Monitoring which is an advanced AI app which will track your Invisalign progress on a weekly basis to ensure that your journey is as smooth as possible.
