  4. Why Are There Price Differences with Different Dental Practices?
Thanks for downloading our price list. As you are shopping around for a new home to look after all yours and your family’s dental needs, you probably came across a great range of prices from different dental clinics, and you must wonder… Why are there price differences for different dental practices?

Well, today we’re going to share with you why there are price differences with different dental clinics, especially compared to overseas.

By the way, I’m Dr Warren, I’m the principal dentist here at Lifestyle Smiles.

Different Dentists Have Different Skill Sets

Sometimes, choosing a dentist is like choosing your hairdresser. It can be very personalised, and you never want to walk out with a bad haircut. So the more experienced operator can sometimes be more expensive.

Practice Philosophies Can Be Different

Some clinics are similar to a fast-food restaurant. It’s quick, it’s cheap, it’s patch up. I’m not sure about the taste part, but… it probably isn’t healthy. You may say, What’s patch up? For example, if you come in with a broken tooth and you have a really old filling there, some dentists will just put a little temporary filling on the side, charge you a fee and let you go. You might think, oh wow that was the quickest and cheapest dental visit ever! AND the treatment gave only very minimal discomfort.

However, what you don’t know is that tooth may break down further in a year’s time or two years time. It may then need a root canal, or an extraction because it wasn’t fixed properly and what ends up happening is that the cost to fix that tooth in the long term is actually a lot more expensive. That’s why we don’t encourage patch up or fast-food style dental clinics in Lifestyle Smiles because we know that if we don’t treat the tooth properly, it can be more expensive and painful to treat in the future.

How They Are Handling Their Patients

The other factors you should take into consideration when choosing your dentist are their experience, how much time they spend with you and their way in handling their patients, do they listen? Are they good with children? Typically we spend an hour with each of our new clients in their first visit for a minimum fee, so that we have time to listen so that we don’t rush, because we know how valuable a first impression is.

Even if you think you have perfectly healthy teeth, we still leave an hour for this consultation. Why? Because we want to get to know you and give you the most thorough overview of your oral health. We want to make sure that you know exactly what is happening currently around your mouth, what can happen, and what you need to be aware of in the future, so nothing is missed. We want you to walk out and say… wow, that was amazing. No one has EVER been so thorough with my teeth before.

If you are looking after patch up dentistry, we are not it. But if you are looking for honest, reliable, high-quality dentistry at reasonable fees. Then we can help you!

So I hope now you understand why there are price differences between dental practices, different philosophies, and if you and your family are looking for a new home to take care of all your dental needs, we would love to look after you.

Simply give us a call, send us a DM or fill in the enquiry form on our website, and we will be in touch to organise a time with you.
