Professional Teeth Whitening

Professional teeth whitening is a safe and effective way to remove stains and discolouration from your teeth with the guidance and expertise of a trained dentist.

Unlike over-the-counter whitening products, dentist teeth whitening treatments are stronger and more concentrated, allowing for faster and more dramatic results.

At Lifestylesmiles, we’ll ensure your in-chair teeth whitening treatment is minimally invasive with virtually no discomfort or sensitivity.

Dentist Teeth Whitening Options

At our dental practice in Melbourne, we offer a range of exceptional teeth whitening treatments designed to brighten your smile and boost your confidence. Our licensed dentists are committed to providing you with the best possible care, ensuring a safe and effective teeth whitening experience.

Philips Zoom Whitening

Experience the power of Zoom, the leading in-chair whitening treatment. Our skilled dentists use higher concentrations of hydrogen peroxide, delivering remarkable results that leave you with a radiant smile. With professional teeth whitening your gums and oral structures are well protected throughout the process, minimising any risk of gel exposure where it shouldn’t be.

Opalescence Take Home Whitening

Opalescence Take Home Whitening can maintain and enhance your professional teeth whitening, results. Also known as night-guard bleaching or at-home whitening, this method is a common recommendation to prolong the effects of your teeth whitening treatment. Using a custom-made tray that resembles mouth guards, the whitening gel is applied with precision ensuring it does not come into contact with your gums.

Non-Vital Teeth Whitening

In cases of endodontic treatment or root canal therapy, our Non-Vital Teeth Whitening, also known as “walking bleach” or internal bleaching comes to the rescue. We apply hydrogen peroxide or sodium perborate to the pulp chamber, which is then sealed for 3-7 days. This process is repeated as necessary until your smile reaches the desired level of radiance.

When it comes to teeth whitening, trust the professionals who understand the importance of both safety and efficacy. Our dental team in Melbourne is dedicated to providing you with the highest level of care to ensure you achieve the stunning smile you’ve always wanted.

In-Chair Teeth Whitening to Remove Teeth Stains

As we journey through life, our once sparkling white teeth may lose their lustre, appearing yellow or even grey. This change in colour can be attributed to various factors, including age, dietary habits, traumatic incidents, and underlying health conditions. But don’t worry the solution to this discolouration is easily within your reach through professional teeth whitening sessions at our dentist’s office.

Intrinsic Stains

  • Originate from the inside of the tooth
  • May be caused by ingestion of certain antibiotics and excessive fluoride during tooth development
  • Other causes include ageing, trauma, and stains coming from dental restorative material

Vs

Extrinsic Stains

  • Appear on the outer surface of the tooth
  • Caused by coffee, tea, red wine, heavily-coloured foods and tobacco smoking.
  • Usually manageable by routine dental checkups and teeth cleaning.
  • Persistent extrinsic stains penetrate micro-cracks of the teeth and might require professional teeth whitening

Teeth Whitening FAQs

Which whitening products do you use for in-chair whitening?

There are many types of professional chairside whitening products and we use Zoom-in-chair professional whitening which is arguably the best in the market.

How long does a dentist teeth whitening session take?

Treatment time takes approximately 60-90min from start to finish, and we have Netflix to ensure you enjoy a movie while your teeth are being whitened.

Which whitening products do you recommend for at home teeth whitening?

We have used all types of whitening products such as Day and Night White, Zoom take-home whitening, but have found Opalescence to be the best of them all.

How do I maintain whiter teeth at home?

For long-lasting results, dentists recommend patients use take-home whitening products to maintain or extend the longevity of professionally applied whitening treatment. It is also recommended to avoid consuming dark-coloured food and beverages and practise good oral care at home – brushing and flossing after a meal and before bedtime.

Is professional teeth whitening safe?

Generally, teeth whitening is safe and noninvasive. However, some side effects may occur and could last a couple of days.

The most common side effect of whitening is tooth tingling and sensitivity and often occurs due to a higher concentration of peroxide. We recommend patients use toothpaste like Sensodyne a week before their teeth whitening appointment or use a take-home whitening kit with a lower dose first.

Hydrogen peroxide may also cause burning or bleaching of the gingiva and any exposed tissue. At Lifestyle Smiles, we use gum barriers to protect gums and other soft tissues in the mouth, and gum irritation is most commonly experienced while using whitening products bought over the counter.
